Adventure with Iranian Dishes – Cooking, Serving & Hospitality with El

More Than a Cooking Class: A Shared Table of Stories and Flavor
This is more than just a cooking class—it’s an invitation to connect.
El, an intercultural multimedia artist with years of experience creating spaces for human connection, transforms the kitchen into a setting for meaningful shared experience. After decades of working across artistic forms and cultures, she has found food to be a universal language—essential, joyful, and rich with meaning.
For this workshop, El has invited Patricia Coleman to collaborate—an artist whose thoughtful presence and creative background deeply align with the spirit of the gathering. Patricia is a Brooklyn-born writer and director whose work centers on experimental, collaborative practices across performance and text.
Together, we’ll prepare a vegan version of ghormeh sabzi, a beloved Iranian stew that takes time to simmer, just like the kinds of conversations we hope to cultivate. While the dish comes together, we’ll pause for Persian tea and gather around the table for reflection and storytelling. Participants will be gently invited to explore their own relationships with food, memory, migration, and… family.
Guests will receive a short list of optional reflection questions at registration. We’ll close by sharing a warm meal and small take-home tastings—but more importantly, we’ll share an experience of hamsofreghi, the Persian art of being together through food.
This class has a $5 Registration fee and a very limited capacity of 6 students. Upon attendance to class, you will get a $5 HWFC Gift Card, no gift cards given to cancelled reservations or no show students. Fee waivers are always available, no questions asked by emailing; Education@HonestWeight.COOP
